Powder White are currently looking for strong cooks for a handful of Chalet Host positions, to run their chalets in France, Switzerland and Austria.

The position of Chalet Host offers a really rewarding and fulfilling way in which to spend 5 months in the snow.  It is a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and hold a position of real responsibility which will set you up with superb experience which is adaptable to so many future roles.

Whilst completing a cookery course is likely to improve your application with Powder White, what is more important to us is your ability to work as part of a team, act on your own initiative and prove an excellent work experience record both in and out of catering.   We feel it essential that a strong understanding of hard work is an absolute necessity; therefore if you are just leaving school or University, we will be looking for you to complete a prolonged period of relevant employment between now and the start of the season.  We ask you to please be understanding and accepting in this respect - we are currently experiencing a huge demand for the very few jobs we have available therefore it is unlikely that a short or basic cookery course alone will be enough to secure a role with us.

What the Position involves:

  • Ensuring that our guests benefit from the highest possible service with a 'Nothing is too much trouble' ethic
  • Preparing cooked & continental breakfasts, afternoon teas, pre-dinner canapés and four course dinner
  • Keeping the kitchen and dining areas clean and compliable with hygiene regulations
  • Laying the tables to the Powder White standard for breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner
  • Oversee & take overall responsibility for the cleanliness of your chalet
  • Involvement in full chalet changeover on arrivals/departures day
  • Shopping, managing your own shopping/ordering list and carrying out weekly stock-takes. Budgeting and controlling chalet float completing weekly accounts returns
  • Maintaining sufficient stocks of dried goods, bathroom accessories, cleaning materials and selection of wines
  • Booking restaurants and taking responsibility for smooth delivery of guest ski passes, helping with ski hire and tuition.

Successful applicants will need to have a personable and outgoing personality, ability to act under pressure and keep a clear head, be a good team player, have excellent guest relations and interpersonal skills, be pro-active, professional and flexible.

EU passport and UK National Insurance number essential.

Other requirements: Cookery qualification or proof of professional cooking experience / Excellent relevant work experience both in and out of the catering sector / Proof of ongoing employment relevant to this type of role.

What we offer you:

  • Competitive salary
  • Great accommodation (separate to chalets you will be involved in)
  • Return transport from to resort
  • Comprehensive training scheme including internationally recognised qualifications
  • Tasteful and stylish uniform
  • Ski insurance
  • Ski/Snowboard and boot hire
  • Free ski and/or Snowboard tuition - low season
  • Season ski pass
  • Free internet access
  • The chance to experience ski resort life, make lots of new friends and have lots of fun!

Salary for these positions is very competitive - we believe that the days of hard-working staff earning pure pocket money are well and truly over.

Please upload your cover letter, CV and 6 day 3 course evening meal menu plans when applying.
